ROSARY BEADS: 
Please donate your spare and unused rosary beads to the Stella Maris charity in Southampton. Your spare beads will be passed on to the many hundreds of seafarers and their families, where there is a great demand for them. Post them to: Stella Maris, c/o. St. Edmund's Catholic Church, 14 Rockstone Place, Southampton, SO15 2EQ.

CHILD SAFETY: 

There have been concerns about children running around the car park after the 10.15am Sunday Mass. Vehicles are in transit at all times, so this is a safety hazard. Please don't let your children go outside without you. This includes letting them go to the toilet unaccompanied.

ASH WEDNESDAY. 

Mass will be celebrated at 9.00am and 6.00pm on Wednesday 14 February.

POPE'S PRAYER INTENTION FOR FEBUARY

For the terminally ill. We pray that those with a terminal illness, and their families, receive the necessary physical and spiritual care and accompaniment.

VOTIVE CANDLE OFFERING

This is a polite reminder that these candles are £1.00 each. We will be donating some of this money to the lunch group.

NEW VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 

Two of our regular Children's Liturgy leaders have recently left the parish. In order to keep running our popular sessions at the 10.15am Mass on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month, we need two more volunteers who can be DBS cleared to work with children. Tuesday 20 February, 6.00pm, in the Canon Kuner Room. At least one Catholic parent MUST attend.

FAMILY FAST DAY IS ON FRIDAY 23 FEBRUARY. 

Please eat simply on this day and give what you can to help families around the world cope and fight the effects of the climate crisis. You can donate in church by using a CAFOD envelope or on CAFOD’S website: cafod.org.uk/give.

BIBLE STUDY GROUP. 

It has been proposed to start a bible study group looking at St. Mark's gospel. If you are interested in finding out more, speak to Paul Freathy in the hall after Mass.

SYMPOSIUM “WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE HUMAN?” 

Saturday 16 March, 10.00am - 4.15pm, The Arc (formerly Discovery Centre), Winchester. The diocese has organised an exciting symposium and discussion day on medical and healthcare ethics. Start of life and end of life questions are always in the news these days, together with issues to do with gender and mental health. All these raise the deeper question about what it means to be a human person. Tickets cost £20.00. These can be purchased from the diocese's website. www.portsmouthdiocese.org.uk.

THE CATHOLIC MEDICAL ASSOCIATION 

Warmly invites all healthcare professionals to St. Colman's Catholic Church, Cosham, on Monday 12 February at 6.30pm for a Votive Mass for Our Lady of Lourdes. This will be followed by refreshments and a talk by Fr. James Lewis, the QA Catholic Chaplain, at 7.30pm titled; 'Hearing the Voice of God - Learning from the Saints'.
